The weather office has issued a storm warning for nine districts, predicting winds of up to 60 kilometers per hour by 1 AM. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms and rain.
The forecast, which was released on Saturday, August 24, covers the period from 3 PM to 1 AM for the country’s inland river ports.
The districts under alert are Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong, and Cox’s Bazar. The forecast indicates that these areas may experience temporary gusty or squally winds ranging from 45 to 60 km/h, coming from the south or southeast, accompanied by rain or thunderstorms. River ports in these areas have been advised to hoist cautionary signal number 1.
Additionally, the forecast suggests that light to moderate rain or thunderstorms, with temporary gusty winds, may occur in many parts of Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions, and in some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. There is also a chance of moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas within Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong divisions.
