The import-export activities at Benapole land port have been suspended on Thursday, August 15 due to India’s Independence Day. However, the movement of passport holders between the two countries continues as usual.
On Thursday morning, August 15, Rezaul Karim, the acting director of Benapole Land Port, confirmed the matter.
He stated, “Due to India’s public holiday for Independence Day, import-export trade at Benapole Port has been halted for one day. However, the customs house and port operations are functioning normally. Import-export activities will resume from Saturday, August 17.”
Sajedur Rahman, General Secretary of the Benapole Customs Clearing Agent Staff Association, mentioned, “Due to the public holiday in India, import-export activities through this route have been suspended. The activities will resume as per usual from Saturday morning.”
Azharul Islam, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Benapole Checkpost Immigration, confirmed that while trade is halted, the movement of passport holders between India and Bangladesh remains unaffected.
