HSC and Equivalent exams for 2024 will begin next Sunday (June 30). Coaching centers across the country will be closed for a total of 44 days to ensure a fair and leak-free examination. The institutes must close from Saturday (June 29) until August 11. However, coaching centers focused on BCS exam preparation will remain open.
On June 5, Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury issued this directive in preparation for the HSC and equivalent exams. The decision was taken during a meeting of the National Monitoring and Law and Order Committee at the Ministry of Education.
The Education Minister said in the press briefing that, “The rumors of question leaks mostly circulated from coaching centers. Therefore, we have decided to suspend the activities of coaching centers during the examination period. Strict action will be taken against anyone who does not comply with this directive.”
This year, about 1,450,790 students across the country are set to take the HSC, Alim, HSC (BM/BMT), HSC (Vocational), and Diploma in Commerce exams under the Higher Secondary Education Board. Among them, are nine general education boards, the Technical Education Board, and the Madrasa Education Board.
As per the report, a total of 750,281 male students and 750,509 female students going to participate in the exam. The HSC Exam will be held in 2,725 centers across 9,463 educational institutions.
Meanwhile, due to the flood situation, the HSC, Alim, HSC BMT, and HSC (Vocational) exams in four districts of the Sylhet Division have been postponed until July 8. However, exams in these districts will be conducted from July 9, 2024, according to the previously announced schedule.
Note that, the respective boards will later announce the New Dates for the postponed exams. The Sylhet Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has officially announced that no further exams will be postponed after July 8.
