Former army officer Ziaul Ahsan has been arrested in connection with a murder case filed at the New Market Police Station in the capital.
According to sources, the arrest took place today, Friday (August 16). Currently, he is being held in custody by the Detective Branch (DB) of the police.
Earlier, on August 6, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement announcing that Major General Ziaul Ahsan had been relieved of his duties.
The decision came amidst allegations from protesting students and opposition leaders, who accused him of phone tapping and directly assisting in the assassination of Sheikh Hasina.
