Facebook, the most popular with over 3.065 Billion monthly active users, is again blocked in Bangladesh. Thousands of users from this country are unable to use Facebook Lite, App, and Messenger as well from today, Sunday (August 4) at around 2:30 PM.
As the Ek Dofa Dabi Protest by Quota Reform Protesters has started in Bangladesh, it is assumed that the Govt has temporarily banned Facebook in the country. In addition, Meta’s other social media platform, WhatsApp also not responding.
As a result, a large number of users are won’t able to log in on Facebook or Open the app on Phone using Mobile Data and WiFi Internet connection. Users are getting “www.facebook.com took too long to respond” on the Web version and “Connection Error or No Internet, Connection Lost” messages on the Android and iPhone App.
Those who are getting these errors installed VPNs and enabled it on their Phone or PC to use it. Some users said to Epi Express that, Facebook is opening smoothly on various VPNs.
Note that, this is not the first time during the protest where the Govt temporarily blocked Facebook. Earlier, the authority blocked the platform on July 24, 2024, to stop spreading misinformation. Later, they unblocked its service across the country after 7 days on July 31.
