Kazipara Station Back in ServiceStarting this week, Dhaka’s metro rail will now operate on Fridays, the weekly holiday. However, services on this day will begin at 3:00 PM and run until 9:40 PM. Additionally, Kazipara Station, which had been closed for repairs, is set to reopen today.
For a long time, residents had been demanding metro rail services on Fridays to escape the city’s notorious traffic jams. That demand has finally been met, bringing relief to city dwellers.
At a press conference on Thursday afternoon, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Managing Director Abdur Rouf announced that the metro rail will start running from 3:00 PM every Friday, with trains arriving every 12 minutes until 9:40 PM.
Kazipara and Mirpur-10 stations were damaged during student protests, and it was initially estimated that it would take a year and several hundred crores of taka to repair them. However, Kazipara Metro Station is reopening after just two months, with a modest repair cost of only 2.05 million taka.
DMTCL’s managing director also mentioned that the metro rail’s operating hours will be extended in the future based on public demand.
